The MTV Movie Awards are all about honoring the biggest films in the world, so it’s only fitting that this year’s ceremony will be ushered in by two of Hollywood’s very biggest stars.
Will Smith will join previously announced presenters Will Ferrell, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lindsay Lohan, Steve Carell, Robert Downey Jr., Seth Rogen and more at the 17th annual MTV Movie Awards, broadcast live this year from the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. Smith’s “Hancock” co-star, Charlize Theron, will also be handing out a Golden Popcorn.
Cruise, long a program mainstay, was the first-ever winner of MTV’s Generation Award, given to the performer who has most captured the attention of MTV’s audience throughout his or her career. This year’s Generation Award recipient is Adam Sandler (who recently launched MTV’s Sneak Peek Week with a screening of “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan”). (more…)

Ellen DeGeneres clearly has marriage on her mind.
The talk show host – who plans to wed girlfriend Portia de Rossi and has talked nuptials with recent guests John McCain and Jenna (Bush) Hager – was back to bride-talk with Will Smith.
On Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, DeGeneres noted that Will and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, have been married for 10 years, unheard of in Hollywood. “It’s like dog years when you’re married here,” she said. “That’s like 50 years, right?
“What I found is divorce just can’t be an option,” the actor explained. “It’s really that simple. And I think that’s the problem with L.A. – there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options.” (more…)

It appears another Hollywood A-lister is headed back to Vancouver. Rumour has it that superstar Will Smith will be here soon to make the sci-fi flick I, Robot 2. The first movie was shot here a few years back, and co-starred Bridget Moynahan and veteran actor James Cromwell. The plot focuses on a futuristic cop investigating a crime perpetrated by a robot. No word on exactly when Smith and company will start production here.

HOLLYWOOD heavyweights Will Smith and Charlize Theron have had their trip to Sydney cancelled because the print of their flick, Hancock, won’t be ready to make the journey with them.
Smith had personally nominated Sydney as the city to host the world premiere for the super-hero comedy film, with the A-listers to have walked the red carpet at the Entertainment Quarter on June 10.
But due to the print delay, the Harbour City has unfortunately been shafted, with Hancock now scheduled to debut in France a week later.

France’s biggest movie is getting the American treatment courtesy of Will Smith.
Warner Bros. has optioned the remake rights to “Welcome to the Sticks” (Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis) with Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment attached to produce the soft-hearted comedy.
The original “Sticks,” starring director/co-writer Dany Boon, follows a postal employee from the sunny south of France who gets an unwanted transfer to the rain-soaked north, known as “the sticks.” He eventually is won over by the locals’ warm-hearted ways and impenetrable dialect.
Since opening in February, it has grossed more than $180 million and is poised to overtake “Titanic” in the coming weeks to become the highest-grossing movie ever released in the country.

New York, May 17 (IANS) Actor Will Smith, who has starred in hits like “Independence Day” and “I am Legend”, has decided to start his own school because he feels there isn’t anything good enough outside for his kids. Smith and his wife Jada, who has acted in films like the “Matrix” trilogy and “Collateral”, have been home schooling their kids. But Smith has now spent about $1 million to lease a campus near his California home, perezhilton.com reports.
The campus has been named the New Village Academy of Calabasas. The school will be run privately for kids up to sixth grade. Smith’s son Jaden had co-starred with him in “The Pursuit of Happyness”.

Now I have seen the trailer to the movie Hancock that stars Will Smith and must say oh yeah loving it to bits, it looks hot with lots of action packed mayhem with lots of fun factor funny, and a good story line as well which many films do not have. Well there is some sad and bad news people, the bad news is that the movie’s world premiere had been scheduled to happen next month in Australia, everyone including Peter Berg and Will Smith was scheduled to attend but not so much now.
The movie’s premiere has been unceremoniously cancelled, but why? Well here is the reason which is quite disturbing really, the reason the premiere has been cancelled is because some sources say that the film will NOT be ready and that they will not have a print. Apparently the movie needs re-shoots, oh man this has really peed me off because this film looks hot and with the movie set to open worldwide on July 2nd seems a little to good to be true. (more…)

It’s summertime! Well, maybe not officially, but definitely for Hollywood. The first weekend in May kicked off the Hollywood summer movie season, which got off to a rousing start. The industry’s first event movie Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, and Gwyneth Paltrow, opened to a whooping $104.2 million domestically and a total of $201 million worldwide.
But Iron Man isn’t the only superhuman to hit the big screen this summer. In fact, the summer of 2008 is expected to be a season of superheroes. In addition to Iron Man, moviegoers can also get their fill of The Incredible Hulk; the Batman sequel, The Dark Knight; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; and Hancock, starring box-office phenomenon Will Smith. Hancock opens July 2 in time for the Fourth of July holiday.
Superheroes are as American as Hollywood itself. Take the box-office success of such franchises as Superman, Batman, X-Men, and The Fantastic Four. America has long had an infatuation with the men and women who can right society’s ills, keeping the world safe for the upstanding good guys. (more…)
